At last, boot season is upon us. If you’re like me, you wholeheartedly chose to suffer in your Docs through the sticky summer months and the time is (finally) now to bring back those suede booties you know and love.

When temperatures drop, everyone’s about classic all-black-everything but let’s be real–we’re not basic here at Miss KL. Mix it up with texture and height to stand out among the upcoming autumn seas of riding boots. Here’s some of my picks:

1. Circus by Sam Edelman The Harley Boot in Black Suede

The perfect ankle bootie to pull on when you’re rolling out of bed with just enough time to get from your apartment to class/work. Sam Edelman kills it with this shoe. The velour suede and gold bands give this boot a polished look, while the discreet studs give you just the perfect amount of edge. Throw in a pair of black skinnies and a slouchy sweater and you’ve got a complete look to get you through your day.

2. Jeffrey Campbell The Bainbridge Shoe in Black

If shoes were a religion, Jeffrey Campbell would be my Jesus. I would start (and actually have started) setting aside a bank account solely to allow myself to regularly splurge on their shoes. The Bainbridge’s classic black leather and statement buckle gives it the ability to pair with literally everything, while the heel enables you to effortlessly go from day to night.

3. Jeffrey Campbell The Hewson Platform in Black

JC does it again with the Hewson Platform, gracing us with an insane statement shoe to ring in the fall months with the Lita’s bad-ass cousin. These chunky leather boots give your nighttime attire that right amount of street while the cutout detailing lets you transition from those last weeks of Indian Summer to the colder nights we (or at least I) love. Pair with a black slitted maxi, long-sleeved crop top, and a statement bangle for an evening out on the town.
