The 4th of July exists to celebrate the signing of The Declaration of Independence, i.e. declaring our countries independence from Great Britain and the rule of the monarchy. Independence day is also commonly associated with things like cook-outs, beers, boat-parties, family reunions, sunburns, delicious meats, gin and tonics and general outdoorsy fun (sounds a bit cooler, right?). ¬†AND, if you’re lucky like me, ends in an impressive display of thunderous fireworks over the harbor and a large bonfire with friends featuring plenty of whisky and music.

But let’s get to the part about what to wear for the 4th of July. You definitely want to look cute, try to sweat minimally, and represent this great nation in all of its red, white and blues-y-ness.
