We’re super excited to show you Work It Out, a blog series where we’ll give you insight into the styles and personalities of the wonderful ladies behind the scenes of Miss KL. For our inaugural post we introduce Leah Soffian!

A Brooklyn native, Leah is a 90s Queen turned superstar intern sent to Miss KL from Heaven to kick some serious ass. This girl not only turns heads with her incredibly chic and truly one-of-a-kind style, but she can keep you laughing for days with her spot on impressions. She is wearing all vintage except for the skirt.

Q: How would you define your personal style?
A: My personal style starting rearing its ugly head at about age four when I started dressing myself everyday. My Mother is a big supporter of my personal style and wasn’t about to put a cap on it, so since the age of four my personal style has been evolving and finding new inspirations. Today I would say that my personal style is a mixture derived from the women in my life over the years and the way I feel as a person: wild and daring, yet still chic and ahead of current trends. Long story short, 90s Queen is my name and Thrifting is my game.

Q: What is the most versatile piece of clothing in your wardrobe at the moment?
A: The most versatile piece of clothing I have would have to be my vintage silk chiffon black circle skirt. I got it from a cute little vintage store in Paris like 5 years ago and I find it as one of my go to pieces every season since I’ve acquired it. It’s like my version of the Little Black Dress.

Q: Motto/quote you live by?
A: “You look good when you wear it well.” It’s simple, but it makes me feel absolutely amazing when I fully express myself through my style. It’s from a song called “ready 2 wear” By Felix Da Housecat.

Q: What is your favorite city, and why?
A: Madrid, Spain is one of the most fun places I’ve ever been! There is nothing like a summer spent shopping, eating and dancing in Chueca. I’ve been there two times and I found that everything from the fashion to the architecture is so inspiring, especially for a fashion junkie. You go broke in a week from all the vintage shops and even just some of the local stores selling fun crazy club wear and shoes!

Q: What’s your favorite part about working at Karmaloop?
A: My absolute favorite part of working at Karmaloop is the people! In my time here I’ve met some of the most creative and amazing people in a long while. Working here makes me feel current and good about choosing to chase my dreams of working with clothing and styling all types of projects. People here recognize style when they see it and they teach me new things everyday!

Q: What are 5 things you can’t live without?
A: Five things I can’t live without??? EASY:

  • My Boots
  • Vintage cut-off jorts
  • Tattoos
  • Third Eye Blind
  • Hot sauce
