It should come as no surprise that my favorite part of NYFW (or any fashion week for that matter) is checking out all the beauty looks. This season, there have been four relatively straightforward trends when it comes to makeup. For the most part, embellishment has been around the eyes leaving lips pretty bare. Some looks have been extreme, some had me looking twice to see if there was even makeup on the models. See what I mean in my rundown:
Barely-there makeup was present at several shows leaving no traces of noticeable color. Models donned perfected skin with little other added enhancement.
Some designers opted for clean, bright (read: dayglo) accents around the eyes. At Michael Kors, the colors alternated between lime green and pool blue; at Donna Karan, pink was the statement.
Cleanly rimmed eyes were all around this season, artists choosing simple black liner as a focus and little (if any) other color on the face.
“More is more” seemed to be the philosophy in a couple of cases. Graphic liner was the anchor for several Spring looks, including candy colored hues at Anna Sui and Edie Sedgwick inspired mod lids at Marc Jacobs.
So there you have it. Seems simple because it is. To be honest I was slightly underwhelmed this go around, but it was definitely interesting to see such specific and streamlined trends this season. Which look will you be trying first?
