David Jon Acosta first caught our attention when he jumped on the turban trend bandwagon with his breakout label Gold Saturn. The timely line is full of fashion forward (aka studded, animal print, American flag inspired) turbans, as well as graphic focused tees and tanks. Needless to say, it was love at first hair piece. Which is why we’re happy to announce that Acosta has recently expanded his style influence with a new line, now available at Karmaloop, dubbed Our Prince of Peace.

So where does the name, shortened to O.P.O.P, come from? The Bible, no less. Acosta explains, “In the Bible, Jesus is referred to as the Prince of Peace. And, while I’m far from Christ-like, fashion has always been my savior. Our Prince of Peace is dedicated to all of those whose bible is written by the likes of Anna Wintour.”

While we’re all for the Vogue editor/fashion powerhouse, don’t expect Acosta’s pieces to look anything like a Chanel tweed jacket. Our Prince of Peace is full of loud tribal and leopard print patterns, cut into blogger favorite separates like bandage skirts, bandeaus, and standout leggings. The line combines a 1970s aesthetic with outrageous Miami Beach style. No wonder, since that’s where all of Acosta’s items are made. “Manufacturing the line locally is beneficial for the community, and to be honest I’m a bit of a control freak. I like to be involved every step of the way,” says the Cuban-American designer.

Conclusion? Let Our Prince of Peace save your fashion soul with a new import free, festival-worthy addition to your wardrobe. You can thank us (or the heavens) later.
