Last year’s film adaptation of The Rum Diary, an early novel by Hunter S. Thompson, tells the story of an American journalist Paul Kemp (Johnny Depp) who begins writing for a dying newspaper in Puerto Rico. He is quickly entrenched in the rum-soaked, island life and becomes obsessed with the wildly attractive, Connecticut-born Chenault (Amber Heard). She also happens to be the fiancée of Sanderson, a shady investor hoping to build a resort on an island near the capital. Chenault brings the style of 1950’s Puerto Rico to life with her retro summer dresses and bohemian attitude.
