Red Kings, 1981

Reebok has paired up with the Jean-Michel Basquiat estate yet again in an iconic sneaker collab for Spring 2012. This high top features a black and white palette, Basquiat artwork along the padded ankle, and the artist’s famed signature along the outer sole. Basquiat’s roots lie in graffiti, but it was a transition into neo-expressionist painting that really catapulted him to fame. A dear friend of Andy Warhol, Basquiat fell victim to a heroin addiction which led to the untimely death of this enigmatic, talented figure. While obtaining his original work is beyond out of our league, these kicks are a memorable way to incorporate the art in your day-to-day for less than $100.
