Although we have moved forward into a new year, I cannot resist looking back to vintage editorials and ads (probably due to my newest library additions, Nostalgia in Vogue and Diana Vreeland: The Eye Has to Travel). Therefore, I present to you this amazing portrait of Jean Shrimpton and Celia Hammond, shot by Helmut Newton for Vogue UK in June 1966. I love the bad swan-good swan contrast of the iconic models and the luxury of their overcoats. Is it just me or is the “good swan” enviously peering at her darker, more mysterious counterpart?
