Who you are and how are you living?
I’m Ashley Rudolph, a 24 year old ethical jewelry entrepreneur. I was born and raised in NYC, went to Babson College (right outside of Boston) for undergrad, then went back to Babson for my Master’s as part of the amazing Global Entrepreneurship Program where I spent my semesters in France, China, and Boston. Now I’m launching my own business!
What inspires your look?
My look is definitely inspired by all the stylish people I spot roaming the streets of NYC. I’m inspired by other bloggers of course, but I also love observing local style and trends when I’m traveling.
Describe your style for us:
I’d describe my style as sexy-chic. I gravitate towards a more fitted silhouette. In the winter I’m definitely all about dramatic all black layers, in the summer I’m all about showing off my legs.
What are some of your favorite brands?
I try not to be brand centric, I’m always searching for undiscovered brands and I’m obsessed with vintage, thrifting, and DIY-ing everything right now. I often look to Proenza Schouler for inspiration and my favorite e-boutiques are NastyGal, Spanish Moss Vintage, Anarchy Street, and Stylestalker.
If you could wear just one brand for the rest of your life, what would it be?
I have this joke when I see a great pair of shoes that just don’t need an outfit, I call it “naked with shoes on”. So if I had to choose a brand to wear for the rest of my life, they’d have to have great shoes. I’m going with Proenza Schouler :-)
What do you think of the current state of fashion?
I love the democratization of fashion movement! I like that brands and retailers are looking to bloggers to determine what the next best thing will be. More and more people seem to be marching to the beat of their own drum and taking fashion risks. It’s all so refreshing! I also love the current shift towards supporting ethical brands, uplifting workers in emerging economies, and supporting the work of local independent designers.
Any upcoming brands that you’re looking at?
Since I’m in the business of jewelry with my company Emergy, I’m obsessed with other up and coming jewelry brands. I loved Vane/Joya collaboration from last fall and this spring, Bing Bang, Bluma Indego, the jewelry at Babel Fair in Nolita is also to die for!
Describe yourself in 10 words:
Cool, determined, random, and creative, jewelry obsessed style stalking firecracker.
