Meet Lauren, a prominent Boston model and one of the faces of Karmaloop! We’ve gotten to know Lauren pretty well throughout several years of working together and think she’s one pretty cool chickadee. We caught up with her between photo shoots to ask her a few quick questions:
1. How did you get started modeling?
After booking an appointment with a Boston agency, I went in with some photos and met with the bookers. They had told me to bring photos of myself to see how I photographed–I thought they’d laugh at my CVS-printed 5x7’s, but they were surprisingly happy.
2. What’s the best thing about your job? The worst?
The best thing—the new adventures! I’m in a fresh environment every day, working with new people, modeling different products. I love the change of pace. The worst thing is the inconsistency. One week I could be booked on two jobs, the next week, seven. Having this under control would be my ideal.
3. If you could trade wardrobes with anyone alive or dead, who would it be?
Jackie O is the first person that comes to mind. Her look is so timeless. If I could mix Jackie O’s elegance with Anna Dello Russo’s eclectic style, getting dressed every morning would be so much fun!
4. What’s your current wardrobe staple?
Unfortunately, this Boston winter has me in boots daily. I can’t wait to bring heels and skirts back into my wardrobe.
5. What’s one thing you couldn’t live without?
I couldn’t live without my phone! This past fall, I was phoneless for 2 days and realized how dependent I am on it!
6. What are you reading right now?
I finished The Help yesterday, and am on to The Great Gatsby next. It’s been a while since I’ve read it, hopefully I like it just as much the second time around. I’m also slightly addicted to blogs lately. I could read them for hours.
7. Name your favorite album of all time:
Alanis Morissette’s “Jagged Little Pill” is still my favorite.
8. If you weren’t modeling, what career would you like to pursue?
Selling high-end real estate seems enticing. Have you seen “Selling New York”? What a dream.
9. What’s the worst pick-up line you’ve ever gotten?
The worst pick up line is when a guy comes over to me with a phone number for his friend. It’s even worse when the friend can’t be seen or has already left. If you don’t have the nerve to approach someone, I don’t see it working out.
10. Last but not least, what is your favorite thing about the month of March?
My last name is Fitzgerald so St. Patrick’s Day seems like a fitting response. But my annual trip to visit family in Florida beats it…the sun is calling my name!
